Saudi Arabia Boosts Life Expectancy to 79.7 Years by 2025



Saudi Minister of Health Fahad Al-Jalajel announced that life expectancy in Saudi Arabia has increased from 74 years in 2016 to 79.7 years in 2025. During the same period, road traffic deaths declined by 60%.

Speaking at the Budget Forum 2026 in Riyadh, he highlighted major achievements and improvements in the country’s health sector. He explained how government support has helped raise the quality and efficiency of healthcare services.

According to him, Saudi Arabia’s 2026 budget marks a new stage of growth and prosperity, supporting ongoing national development across all sectors, especially healthcare, in line with Saudi Vision 2030. Recommend: Saudi Moroor issues new traffic warnings

Al-Jalajel said that strong support from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman allowed the Ministry of Health to meet the goals set in the 2025 budget. This support strengthens the ministry’s mission of “Citizen’s Health First.”

The minister noted that the health system’s efforts have improved service quality, efficiency, and accessibility, which has had a positive impact on public health. He shared several global-level achievements:

➤ Deaths from infectious diseases decreased by 50%

➤ Deaths from non-communicable diseases fell by 40%

➤ Fatalities from unintentional injuries dropped by 30%

Looking ahead to 2026, Al-Jalajel said the health sector will continue working to provide sustainable, high-quality healthcare services with greater reach. These efforts aim to improve overall public health and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s position as a leading global health destination.
