The Sun to Be Directly Over the Holy Kaaba Tomorrow at this time
The sky of Makkah Al-Mukarramah will witness the sun directly over the Holy Kaaba tomorrow, Tuesday, 15th July 2025, and the shadow of the Holy Kaaba will disappear completely at 12:27 PM (Makkah Time), at the time of the noon call to prayer. The Jeddah astronomy account on the “X” platform stated that the second perpendicularity occurs when the sun "apparently" returns from the Tropic of Cancer and heads south towards the equator.
During this movement, the sun will be centered on the meridian above Makkah at 12:27 PM Mecca time (9:27 AM GMT), and at that moment it will reach its zenith above the Holy Kaaba, where it will be directly perpendicular to it at an elevation angle of approximately 89.5 degrees
As a result, the shadow of the Kaaba disappears completely, and the shadows of the surrounding vertical objects become almost non-existent or zero at a moment that precisely coincides with the call to prayer at the Grand Mosque in a unique visual spectacle that combines scientific precision with natural beauty. Perpendicularity refers to the sun's rays falling exactly perpendicularly on a specific point on the Earth's surface such that upright objects cast no shadow at that moment.
As for the location of the Holy Kaaba, this perpendicularity occurs twice a year, at the last week of May and mid-July, when the sun passes directly over the latitude of Mecca (21.4° north) during its apparent movement between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. This symmetry represents the precision of the cosmic system and is evidence of the sphericity of the Earth.
Any place or country where the sun is visible can accurately determine the direction of the Qiblah. Muslims have relied on this method for centuries, before the invention of the compass. It remains accurate and reliable to this day, especially in areas far from Mecca that face difficulties in determining the direction of the qibla. Recommend: New rules related to Saudi work visa
