These chips, created in the Cleanroom Lab at KACST, are a major step toward creating a national environment for new technologies that can persevere and even flourish in an environment of global challenges.

These Semiconductor Specialization Program (SSP)-built chips target a wide range of markets, including sensors, integrated circuits, photonics, and micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS).

These parts are critical for developing cutting-edge technologies like electric vehicles and the Internet of Things (IoT).

According to KACST, the program is facilitating local chip production for the expanding electronics and automotive sectors in Saudi Arabia, enhancing the skills of national talent in semiconductor design, and encouraging researchers and students to think creatively about next-generation technologies.

Additionally, the project perfectly aligns with the objectives of the National Industrial Strategy, which are to reduce dependence on foreign technology and establish the Kingdom as a center for technological innovation in the region.
