Macron Declares France’s Recognition of Palestine, Aligning with 142 Nations Worldwide

French recognition of the State of Palestine is a reflection of the country's long-standing dedication to achieving a fair and durable peace in the Middle East. The French president announced his plans to make a formal declaration at the September UN General Assembly in a post on Instagram and X.
Despite fierce opposition from Israel and the US, 142 nations have acknowledged Palestinian statehood, including France.
If France were to recognize a Palestinian state, it would be the most prominent European country to do so.
Securing the safety of the civilian population and ending the war in Gaza must be our first concern, according to Macron's statement.
"We need to establish the State of Palestine, make sure it can survive, and let it demilitarize and fully recognize Israel so it can help keep the Middle East safe for everyone."

"This position signifies France's dedication to maintaining international law and its support of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the creation of our independent state," al-Sheikh stated.
French President Emmanuel Macron's "historic" decision to recognize the state of Palestine was praised by Saudi Arabia on Friday, which urged other nations to follow suit.
In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed their admiration for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. They emphasized that the international community's agreement on this matter has been confirmed by this historic decision.

According to ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah, the two-state solution and the end of the occupation are nearing fulfillment.
According to Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel's prime minister, France's action "rewards terror" and endangers Israel's very existence.
In a statement, Netanyahu expressed his concern that the action could lead to the creation of another Iranian proxy, similar to what Gaza became. He warned that this new Iranian ally will use Gaza as a springboard to destroy Israel, rather than as a peaceful neighbor.
"Let us be clear: the Palestinians are not seeking a state alongside Israel; rather, they are seeking a state without Israel," he further stated.
Claiming that the French action was "a black mark on French history and a direct aid to terrorism," Israel's Deputy Prime Minister Yariv Levin strongly condemned the measure.
