Saudi Arabia has the largest Digital Economy in MENA with 495 billion riyals


In line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia has emerged as the leading MENA digital economy, having achieved remarkable progress in data centers, digital governance, artificial intelligence (AI), and human capital development. The digital economy in Saudi Arabia is worth more than SR495 billion, or almost 15% of GDP. On May 17, which is World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, a report came to light revealing this.

The kingdom's position as the top technology market in the Middle East was further solidified in 2024 when the telecommunications and information technology market had record growth of over SR180 billion. Greater innovation and private sector investment fueled this development.

The kingdom's position as a regional and global digital power has been solidified by these achievements, which have laid the framework for a knowledge-based economy driven by innovation and investment in people and technology. The kingdom has spent more than SR55 billion on data centers and artificial intelligence technology as part of its push into the smart era, positioning itself as a regional powerhouse for emerging businesses.

With the help of its digital human capabilities program, Saudi Arabia has become a regional powerhouse for digital talent, creating more than 381,000 high-quality jobs in the IT industry.

The Digital Services Index placed it fourth worldwide, second among G20 nations, and first in its region. The E-Participation Index placed the kingdom at number seven globally, but its digital skills and open digital government sub-indicators placed it first.
