Saudi Arabia enters the Guinness Book of Records for Largest farm in the World
With an important achievement in agriculture, Saudi Arabia secured its place in the Guinness Book of World Records. It has been discovered that the largest farm in the world, in terms of area, is an extension farm of the Research Unit for Renewable Water Agriculture, located in Wadi Bin Hashbal, Asir region. The Saudi Reef Program held a ceremony at its Riyadh headquarters to formally acknowledge the honor. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al Fadhli, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, was honored to accept the certificate of registration on this historic occasion.
- The farm, which covers an enormous 3.2 million square meters, is divided into two parts, each of which has a concrete tank with a capacity of 500 cubic meters. The farm is an example of sustainable agriculture at its best, using an autonomous irrigation system to water all the crops spread out over the two large fields. It also has a number of other houses and five greenhouses with air conditioning.
- The farm's irrigation methodology is supported by a reliable water treatment system that was organized through several stages by a team of specialists in fields including irrigation, fertilization, prevention, and equipment management. - They are in charge of 20 additional fields that will soon be reclaimed and planted with crops, for a total of 50 fields dedicated to fruit trees.
- Lemons, oranges, tangerines, pomegranates, grapes, figs, almonds, and olives are a few of the standout fruits and vegetables. The farm also has testing grounds for a wide range of agricultural kinds, demonstrating the creativity and sustainability at the core of this agricultural wonder.
