According to the Al-Ekhbariya news, the opening of the Salwa port comes with the start of the World Cup, which is going to be held in Doha, Qatar in November of this year 2022.

- After increasing the capacity the new port will contribute to provide the best services to all authorities operating at the port and those who are Transiting To and From the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially during the next phase that witness the establishment of the World Cup in Qatar.
