Saudi Arabia lifts the Travel suspension using National or GCC ID to Gulf Cooperative Council States


The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) in Saudi Arabia announced the lifting of suspension of the use of National Identity card to travel to and from the Kingdom to GCC countries for Saudi and GCC citizens. Follow Saudi Expatriates on Instagram







Jawazat explained that citizens now can travel GCC countries using their national identity card, by making sure of other entry requirements of the country to which they are traveling, stating that family registering card is not a document that can be traveled with.

- Earlier, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Saudi Arabia suspended GCC citizens including Saudi nationals to use national ID cards for travel to and from the Kingdom due to the outbreak of coronavirus last year in February. Trending : No need of permit to perform Eid Al-Fitr prayers in the Two Holy Mosques

- During the corona pandemic, passport was considered as the valid document to travel between GCC countries. This restrict was applied to both Saudi citizens and GCC citizens.





- The Kingdom also restricted its citizens to travel those who did not received 3 doses against corona virus, or to those who have passed more 3 months after receiving second dose, except for the exempted groups.

- While for the age group of below 16 years, the authority requires to complete at least 2 doses of corona vaccine and for the age group of less than 12 years, an insurance policy against coronavirus required. Read : No specific color of Veil is required while issuing Id card - Civil Affairs
