SFDA confirms Moderna Vaccine safety in Saudi Arabia, after Japan suspended its use


A day after Japan suspended the use of 1.63 million doses of the Moderna vaccine due to a issue in one of its manufacturing sites, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) confirmed the safety of all doses of the Moderna anti-Corona vaccine in the Kingdom. The official spokesperson for the Food and Drug Authority in Saudi Arabia, Tayseer Al-Mufarrej, said that all doses of the Moderna Corona vaccine mRNA-1273 against the Corona virus in Saudi Arabia are safe.

- The spokesperson highlighted that the batch that was suspended as a precaution in Japan had different batch numbers that were not exported to the Kingdom, stating that the SFDA Administration conducted tests on the shipments imported to the Kingdom, and the results proved their safety. - He added that the "Food and Drug Authority" received a report from the Japanese side with the details of the batch that was suspended to them through the International Alliance of Medicines Regulatory Authorities (ICMRA) with batch numbers, and it was confirmed that it was not in the Kingdom.





- Al-Mufarrej explained that the Food and Drug Administration examined a number of samples from all shipments of vaccines imported to the Kingdom, including the Moderna vaccine, explaining that the results proved the safety of all batches imported to the Kingdom.
