Saudi Arabia signs deal to link Tawakkalna app with IATA to facilitate International Travel
Saudi Arabia signed a deal with IATA (International Air Transport Association) to allow the international use of health passport in Tawakkalna issued for those vaccinated against Corona virus.
The Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA) said that SDAIA and the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) was signed a joint operational protocol to link the IATA Travel pass app with Tawakkalna app.
- The deal seeks to facilitate travel procedures in accordance with the best international practices, as the traveler will be able to view all the health requirements of the concerned travel destination and ensure that all requirements are completed from one approved and reliable platform. - Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, the head of SDAIA said that the next step is to adopt the health passport through Tawakkalna app as an official document within other countries.
- He said, "Our current achievement is through the trilateral deal between Tawakkalna app and airlines, our next big step is to make sure the health passport will be used as an official document in other countries to recognize our side".
- The President of the GACA, Abdulaziz Al-Duailej said that the aim of the agreement is to facilitate travel procedures and verify the health eligibility for travelers as per international standards through the Tawakkalna app in an instant manner. - Saudi Arabia is one of the first countries that has succeeded in linking a government platform to an international platform. GACA aims to support Tawakkalna app and enhance its cooperation with IATA to reach integrated digital solutions that reflects Kingdom's position in the field of digital transformation.
