Islamic Affairs directed to shorten the time between Adhaan and Prayer and to Conduct Dawah programs remotely


The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance in Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Dr. Abd al-Latif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh directed to stop all dawah activities, transfer it remotely, limit the length of prayer times and to open mosques only during prayer times. This is in line within the framework of the Ministry's efforts to protect the Mosque’s visitors, to keep pace with the state’s efforts to address the Coronavirus pandemic, and to harness dawah platforms to protect people and spread community awareness.



The directive ensured that the waiting period between the adhaan and the iqaamah is 10 minutes, except for the Fajr prayer 20 minutes, the opening of the mosques with adhaan and their closure 10 minutes after the prayer, the opening of the mosques for the Friday prayer to be 30 minutes before adhaan and their closure after 15 minutes of the prayer as confirmed to the virtuous sermons of the mosques, the Friday sermon and prayer should not exceed 15 minutes. - The directive highlighted what was included in previous circulars that stipulate that all worshipers bring their own rugs, wear a face mask or cover mouth and nose, leave the approved distance (one and a half meters) between worshipers, and take regular measures in cooperation with the concerned authorities against anyone who violates the measures, in order to preserve the health and safety of society.

- The directives also came to suspend the establishment of scientific lessons, dawah programs, and lectures in mosques, to convert all these activities to be remote, and to increase dawah programs related to awareness of the Corona pandemic.

- The directive pointed out to increase of sterilization of mosques, ablution places, and toilets, maintaining good ventilation for them, and following up compliance with all the directives provided by the employees of the mosques, including preachers, imams, and muezzins with exactness, as assigned by the Ministry.
