Saudi Jawazat clarification on renewing Iqama in case of Passport expiry


The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) in Saudi Arabia clarified that the validity of a passport is a condition for renewing the resident identity (iqama) of an expat worker. Story : Kids at Costume Festival at Riyadh Boulevard City








This clarification from the Jawazat came in an interaction to one of the user's inquiry on its official Twitter handle, in which the inquirer asked, "Is renewal of iqama allowed, in case of the passport expiry?".

- Earlier this, the passports department in Saudi Arabia said that their is the possibility of renewing iqama of expat workers for the companies for a period of minimum 3 months or 6 months.





- This came as a clarification from the Jawazat to a question on Twitter, in which a user asked, "Is it possible to renew iqama for a period of 3 or 6 months for dependents?". Trending : Sick Leave - Article 117 of Saudi Labor Law

- Answering it, the Saudi passports department stated that, the iqama of a resident can be renewed quarterly by the employer, and it includes the dependents of the expat workers, after paying the necessary fee to complete the procedure.
