UAE approves the Emergency use of Moderna vaccine against Covid-19
United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced the approval of the "Moderna" vaccine against the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19), for emergency use. Moderna became the 5th vaccine to receive such approval from the UAE said the health ministry.
The Ministry of Health and Community Protection in UAE said, in a statement issued that, it took this step based on the results of clinical studies and the strict evaluation followed for the emergency use permit and the local evaluation that complies with the approved regulations, and added that the vaccine has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration, and its approval for emergency use comes in furtherance. The country's efforts to combat the COVID-19 virus.

- Dr. Amin Al Amiri, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Health Regulation Sector, said that this decision came after Moderna submitted all documents that meet the procedures and regulations approved in the country and according to international standards to ensure the safety of the vaccine for use, so that health authorities can then import the vaccine after meeting the standards, Safety and efficacy certified during shipment.
- He said that the results of the studies showed that the vaccine was safe and effective, and resulted in a strong response, and the generation of antibodies to the virus, and studies related to the safety of vaccination were reviewed, based on the approval of the vaccine by the US Food and Drug Administration.
- The UAE, a country of 9.2 million people, a federation of 7 emirates, has reported the spread of the Beta, Delta and Alpha variants in the country. About 73.8% of the UAE's population has received one dose of the Corona vaccine while 63.7% are fully vaccinated, the health ministry said on Saturday.
