Philippine Military plane Crashes with 85 people on Board


A Philippine military plane carrying at least 85 people has crashed in the Southern Philippines Today, while the authorities have not determined the cause of the accident.







So far 40 people have been rescued from the burning wreckage of the C-130, which crashed as it tried to land on Jolo island in Sulu province, said General Cirilito Sobejana.

- The most of the passengers on the plane were recent graduates of basic military training program and were being transported for deployment to the island as part of a joint task force fighting terrorism in the Muslim-majority region.





- The accident comes 10 days after a recently Philippine helicopter crashed during an overnight training north of Manila, killing all six air force personnel on board.

- Philippine Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said it was still unknown why the S-70A Black Hawk helicopter carrying three pilots and three crew members crashed Wednesday evening near Clark Air Force Base, a military base.
