Al Ahsa Dates and related Products flows to the Market, As Ramadan nears

More than 30 date-licensed factories in Al-Ahsa Governorate are competing to fill dates and produce them in a healthy, safe and high quality. These factories contribute to achieving food security locally and internationally and pump their products to the market in light of the market's need for them before Ramadan. It also develops manufacturing products such as molasses, date pulp, natural date vinegar, date powder and others.

According to a report by the Saudi Press Agency, "SPA", Al-Ahsa is famous for its abundance of palm trees, as the governorate has about 2.3 million palm trees in what is considered the "largest palm oasis in the world." Al-Ahsa represents about 10% of the Kingdom's production of dates reported Al Arabiya.

The director of "King Abdullah City of Dates" in Al-Ahsa Governorate, Engineer Mohamed Al-Ismail, stated that the number of palm trees in Al-Ahsa ranges between 2.2 and 2.3 million palm trees that produce 34 different varieties of dates. The total annual production is around 110,000 to 120,000 tons of dates.

Ismail explained that the export of dates is done individually through simple quantities, compared to the volume of production in the region, while the percentage of exports outside Saudi Arabia is still "less than expected".

He stated that the prices of dates depend on their quality, the average price may increase or decrease depending on the length, color, quality of dates, and others. He pointed out that there are more than 30 licensed factories in the governorate, 90% of which are filling factories.
