Saudi Arabia Ranks 3rd Globally in AI Development – Stanford AI Index 2025
Saudi Arabia has earned a leading global position in artificial intelligence, taking third place worldwide in developing advanced AI models and in the growth of AI-related jobs, according to the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence’s 2025 AI Index.
The Kingdom now ranks right behind the United States and China in language model development and just after India and Brazil in AI job growth. These results show how quickly the Kingdom’s innovation ecosystem is growing under Vision 2030, supported by major national efforts led by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). These initiatives aim to make Saudi Arabia a global center for data, technology, and artificial intelligence.
Third place goes to Saudi Arabia, which has a top-notch R&D infrastructure and produces advanced AI systems like "Alam," the best Arabic generative AI model in the world.
The report also highlights how the AI sector is creating more employment opportunities in the Kingdom.
The government's encouragement of AI talent, along with international partnerships and a legal framework meant to hasten the expansion of high-tech sectors, propelled Saudi Arabia to the seventh spot on the list of countries most attractive to AI professionals. The country also placed eighth worldwide in public awareness of AI and in the number of specialized scientific citations.
