Ministry of Interior Reports 22K Illegal Resident Arrests in Saudi Arabia
The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced that security authorities arrested 22,613 illegal residents across the Kingdom during joint inspection campaigns held from October 16 to October 22. The following individuals were among those arrested:
➤ 13,652 violated Residency Laws,
➤ 4,394 violated Border Security Laws, and
➤ 4,567 violated Labor Laws.
During this period, 14,039 illegal residents were deported, while 23,021 violators were sent to their diplomatic missions to get travel documents. In addition, 3,939 violators were referred to complete their travel bookings.
The report also revealed that authorities caught 1,699 individuals who attempted to enter Saudi Arabia illegally. Of these, 45% were Yemenis, 54% were Ethiopians, and 1% were of other nationalities. Authorities also arrested 23 individuals who were involved in transporting, sheltering, or employing violators.
Currently, 31,374 expatriates (including 29,814 men and 1,560 women) are undergoing legal procedures for violating laws.
The Ministry of Interior warned that anyone who helps illegal entrants—by transporting, sheltering, or providing any kind of assistance—will face up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SR1 million. In addition, vehicles and homes used in such activities will be confiscated.
The ministry urged the public to report violators by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and 999 or 996 in other regions of the Kingdom. Read: Four new e-services added in Absher platform
