The airport said the disruption reached its peak on Friday morning, when passengers reported delays involving multiple airlines.

Several operational factors over the past two days caused the delays, the airport explained in an earlier statement. The diversion of several flights from other airports to Riyadh and scheduled maintenance work on the airport's fuel system were among these factors. As a result, flight schedules were changed, leading to delays and cancellations for some airlines.

In a later update, King Khalid International Airport confirmed that all operational issues have now been resolved. The airport stated that it collaborated closely with airlines and pertinent authorities to finalize all procedures for impacted flights, including those that underwent cancellation or rescheduling.

The airport reported that the disruption on Friday affected nearly 200 flights.

Operational teams diligently worked around the clock to restore normal flight schedules. The airport stressed that passenger safety is the top priority and said all actions were taken in accordance with regulations issued by the General Authority of Civil Aviation to protect travelers’ rights.

King Khalid International Airport apologized to passengers for the inconvenience and thanked them for their patience and understanding. It added that coordination with airlines is continuing to ensure passengers receive timely updates, including information about baggage collection for canceled flights.
