Saudi Arabia Cracks Down on Residency, Labor and Border Offenses; 22,072 Arrested
In one week, the Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia reported arresting 22,072 people for violating residency, work, and border security laws.
From July 31 to August 6, 2025, joint field campaigns across all regions caught 13,833 residency law violators, 4,624 border security violators, and 3,615 labor law violators. Most Viewed: Nusuk App is now without internet in Saudi Arabia
Officials also stopped 1,640 people from illegally entering the Kingdom—35% Yemenis, 64% Ethiopians, and 1% other nationalities. Another 48 people were caught trying to leave the Kingdom illegally.
Authorities arrested 37 individuals for transporting, sheltering, or employing illegal residents. Currently, 23,630 violators are undergoing legal procedures, including 20,601 men and 3,029 women.
The Ministry said 16,162 violators were sent to their embassies for travel documents, 3,136 arranged travel bookings, and 11,058 were deported.
The Ministry warned that helping border violators—by transporting, hiding, or assisting them—can result in up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to 1 million riyals, and confiscation of vehicles or property used. Citizens and residents are urged to report violations by calling 911 in Makkah, Medina, Riyadh, and Eastern Province, or 999 and 996 in other regions.
