Riyadh launches non-paid Residential Managed Parking
The Riyadh Parking Project has initiated a non-paid managed parking initiative in residential neighborhoods. This is part of a larger plan to organize public vehicle parking and restrict improper practices, such as the spillover of cars from commercial areas into adjacent housing districts.
Improving the city's driving experience, increasing parking efficiency, and decreasing unlawful car use in residential neighborhoods are the goals of this implementation, which follows the previous installation of paid parking on important commercial streets. By implementing digital residential parking permits for residents and their guests, which can be accessed through the Riyadh Parking mobile app, the managed parking concept in residential zones aims to target vehicles that do not belong to residents.
The app's connection to the national "Nafath" infrastructure enables secure registration and access.
The initial deployment will cover the Al-Wurud neighborhood, with plans to expand to additional locations along commercial streets in the future. Trending: Over 40,000 apply for Saudi Premium Residency from inside and outside Saudi Arabia in just 18 months
The project utilizes advanced equipment, including smart patrol vehicles equipped with ALPR cameras, to monitor parking violations in business zones and their surrounding neighborhoods.
The Riyadh Parking Project, among the world's biggest smart parking projects, was launched in August 2024. Its stated goal is the management of 24,000 paid parking spots in business districts and the regulation of more than 140,000 unpaid home parking spaces.
In the first phase, there are twelve zones spread throughout areas such as Al-Wurud, Al-Rahmaniyah, West Olaya, Al-Muruj, King Fahd, and Al-Sulaimaniah. Saudi Expatriates news is now on WhatsApp
