My iqama expired months ago, how much fine do I need to pay?
One common question asked by some expats in Saudi Arabia is, "My iqama expired months ago; is there any fine after the expiry date? If so, how much will it be?" The answer to this question is explained below. Similar: My passport is expired while i am on an exit-re-entry visa
The fine is 500 Saudi Riyals for renewing it after the expiry of the iqama (Residence Permit), as per Saudi Immigration law.
- However, there is no penalty if the iqama is renewed within 3 days of the expiry date. One can do an Iqama renewal at no extra cost, up to 3 days after the resident ID expires.
- After the 3 days of iqama expiry, the penalty is charged 500 riyals during the renewal of the residence permit, regardless of its days or months. See Also: Is it possible to issue Final exit visa, after iqama expiry?
One thing to note here is that the 500 riyal fine is only for the first time; in case of delaying the iqama renewal for the second time, the fine will be doubled to 1000 riyals.
- If a person pays a fine of 500 riyals and misses the deadline of iqama renewal or fails to renew iqama within the specified time, then also the fine will be increased to 1000 riyals.
- So it is necessary for expatriates living in Saudi Arabia to renew their iqama, or residence permit, with their employer or sponsor on time. Recommend: Fine for not canceling Re-Entry visa, if not used
