Saudi Arabia detains 19,431 expats within a Week on various violations


Inspection checks were carried out from Saudi authorities, across all regions of Saudi Arabia, and as a result, 19,431 persons have been imprisoned for illegally residing in the Kingdom. Trending : Can expats with expired iqamas could be arrested?



There were 11,897 individuals who violated the Residency Law, 4,254 who violated the Border Security Law, and 3,280 who violated the Labor Law among the imprisoned. The security campaigns were carried out from February 15th until 21st February, 2024.

- Of them 971 individuals detained for trying to enter Saudi Arabia illegally, of them, 39% were Yemeni, 57% were Ethiopians, and 4% were of other nationalities.

- In addition, 36 people were arrested while attempting to leave Saudi Arabia without proper documentation, while 15 were detained for providing assistance to those who violated the law by housing, transporting, or hiring them. - Currently, 58,365 individuals, including 53,636 males and 4,729 females, are being prosecuted for a various violations. As part of the deportation efforts, 9,566 people have already been deported, 1,624 have their travel arrangements made, and 50,839 have been sent to their diplomatic offices for travel documents.

- Facilitating the illegal entry, transport, or accommodation of violators carries severe penalties, according to the Ministry of Interior. Violators could face up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to SR1 million, the seizure of vehicles and properties used in the crime, and the publicizing of their name at their expense.
