Saudi Schools Welcome 6 Million Students for New Year 1447-1448 AH
Classes in public schools across 11 regions of Saudi Arabia will start on Sunday, August 24, 2025 (1447-1448 AH), with more than 6 million students expected to attend. In the regions of Makkah, Jeddah, Taif, and Madinah, classes will begin later, on August 31, 2025.
The Ministry of Education confirmed that it has completed all preparations to ensure a safe and motivating school environment that encourages discipline, diligence, and national values. These efforts support the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to build a skilled and competitive new generation. Recommend: Saudi Arabia records 53% drop in dusts and sandstorms in 2025
To prepare for the new year, the ministry carried out several major projects:
➤ 75 new construction projects worth SR920 million.
➤ Comprehensive maintenance on more than 15,000 school buildings and 884,000 air conditioning units, costing over SR2 billion.
➤ Restoration and rehabilitation of more than 1,400 educational buildings at a cost of SR782 million to improve facilities and the quality of education.
Education departments across the Kingdom also announced readiness for students:
■ Riyadh Region: 2.84 million students in 6,873 schools.
■ Eastern Province: more than 700,000 students.
■ Qassim: over 320,000 students.
■ Asir: 525,595 students in 3,430 schools.
■ Tabuk: 211,372 students.
■ Northern Borders Region: over 100,500 students.
■ Hail: more than 180,000 students in over 1,300 schools.
■ Al-Jouf: 168,494 students in 937 schools.
■ Jazan: 351,535 students in 2,556 schools.
■ Najran: 183,302 students in 980 schools.

These preparations show the ministry’s commitment to providing a strong start for the new school year. The goal is to support better learning outcomes and prepare a new generation of students ready to contribute to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
