Ministry announces 6-months Grace period for correcting Huroob status of domestic workers
Starting May 11, 2025, domestic workers will have a six-month grace period from the date of announcement to rectify their absentee (Absent from Work) or huroob status, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in Saudi Arabia. According to the ministry, new employers can fix the status of absent domestic workers legally by automatically completing the procedures on the Musaned platform.
This improves the work environment and guarantees the rights of all parties involved. The grace period allows domestic workers and employers to resolve the huroob (Absent From Work) status of domestic workers using automated procedures.
To control the labor market, the ministry has launched a program that lets domestic workers who have been reported as absentees but are still in the country illegally can now change their status by finding new employers after they complete the required paperwork. The ministry indicated that these measures will be enforced via the "Musaned" platform and will not include those domestic workers who were reported as absent from work after this notification date.
