New Health Insurance Plan for Domestic Workers in Saudi Arabia – Full Details
The Saudi Council of Health Insurance (CHI) is planning to hire a consulting firm to conduct studies on adding a package of health insurance benefits for individual workers who are not yet covered by insurance.
The study will evaluate the impact of making mandatory health insurance available for all domestic workers registered with a single employer when their number exceeds four. This rule for mandatory insurance started on July 1, 2024. Recommend: How to Apply for Saudi Skilled Worker Visa 2025: Eligibility, Jobs & Process
The consulting firm will also prepare a detailed report on the results of the implementation, including:
➤ Technical opinions on whether it is suitable to gradually expand coverage to employers with three or more, or two or more, domestic workers.
➤ The study will also determine whether the Council-approved Unified Health Insurance Policy warrants an increase in insurance coverage limits.
Currently, the health insurance policy for domestic workers includes coverage for the following services:
🔘 Basic healthcare services.
🔘 Public healthcare services.
🔘 Emergency treatment.
🔘 Hospital stays without any co-pay.
🔘 Emergency treatment is available in clinics with unlimited visits.
🔘 Vaccinations and medical tests.
This initiative is part of CHI's efforts to improve healthcare accessibility and protection for workers while ensuring policies are aligned with national health insurance standards. Most Viewed: Hefty fines on employers for failing to provide insurance to workers and their families
