SAUDI ARABIA TO REFUND PAID EXPAT LEVY OF THE GOVERNMENT CONTRACTORS

Saudi Arabia to reimburse expat levy fee to the contractors who are working on government projects which are approved before December 2016. Trending : 69 per cent of employees in small and medium companies are expats




According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), After reviewing the imposition of monthly fees on expat labor workers, The cabinet orders the Finance Ministry to compensate the increased expat levy fee of the labor workers working with government contractors before December 2016. Recommend : Council asked to cancel expat levy on small and medium companies

- From January 2018, Saudi Arabia has started collecting a fee of 300 Saudi Riyals to 400 Saudi Riyals on each expatriate worker working in the private sector, The fee of 300 & 400 depends on the percentage of Saudi employees and percentage of expat employees.




- The expat levy should be paid by the employer or sponsor to the government while issuing or renewing iqama of expatriate worker, The main aim of the expat levy is to replace foreign workers with Saudi nationals in the private sector. Related : Iqama fee for 2018, 2019 and 2020

- For the year 2019, The expat levy will be 500 to 600 Saudi Riyals depending on the Saudi employees available in the company and for the year 2020, The expat levy will be increased to 700 & 800 Saudi riyals depending on the staff available in the firm.
