SAUDI ARABIA TO REDUCE SAUDIZATION TARGETS IN SOME RETAIL SECTORS

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Labor and Social Development is studying a proposal to reduce the Saudization targets in some retail sectors from 100% to 70% as per the report published in Saudi Okaz daily newspaper. Most Viewed : Saudi police arrested a man for slapping street cleaner in Riyadh




The Kingdom earlier announced that some jobs would be restricted for expatriates starting from September 11th of 2018. The 4 sectors which are about to ban expats jobs are Car & Motor bike Showrooms, Ready-made cloth stores, Home and Office furniture stores, Home appliances and Kitchen utensils stores. Recommend : Expats are restricted to work in 12 job categories

- Many Saudi business owners complaining to adjust some targets on Saudization. However some jobs would be excluded from full Saudization are those that require technical knowledge and specialized skills such as maintenance technicians, opticians, tailors and chefs as it require some specialized skills.

- Saudi Arabia introduced an expat levy in January 2018, Companies in which expatriates employees are less than Saudi employees have to pay 300 Saudi Riyals monthly fee, Similarly companies with more expatriate employees than Saudi employees should pay 400 Saudi riyals monthly fee.



- As per the scheduled plan, The expat levy fee will continuously increase every year till 2020. Because of these levy fee companies in Saudi Arabia are limiting on expat employees. Trending : Year wise expat levy fee for companies in Saudi Arabia

- According to the recent statistics from Saudi General Authority of Statistics, More than 234,000 expatriates left Saudi Arabia in the first 3 months of the year 2018, Which is 6% drop in Expatriate workforce. Even though this much expats left, companies did not provide that much jobs to Saudi citizens, which was out of expectation.
